CBR Effata was founded in 1996 by Frank van der Maas. People with disabilities are supported in Nigeria and Guinea Bissau to overcome difficulties. This assistance will be given from a Biblical perspective.
Two countries
Since 1996 several projects have been realised in Izzi, a poor area in Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
From 2014 CBR Effata also works in the North of Guinea Bissau.
National registrations
CBR Effata has been registered as NGO “CBR Effata” in Nigeria and “RBC Effata” in Guinea Bissau. The schools in Nigeria have been registered with the Ministry of Education.
The name
CBR is an abbreviation of Community Based Rehabilitation. This is the method used because it is good when rehabilitation of People with Disabilities takes place in and with the community.
Effata is an Aramaic expression of Jesus, written in Mark 7 verse 34, where a deaf person was healed.
