After completing school, or after a successful operation, youngsters are considered for vocational training. Since 1997 CBR Effata has a Vocational Training Unit, assisting youngsters with a disability to better integrate in the community by learning vocational skills as carpentry, tailoring etc. In 2017 a total of 45 young people with disabilities received practical vocational training.
The vocational skills are acquired through apprenticeships with local carpenters, tailors, shoemakers, hairdressers and bicycle repairers. The youngsters stay most of the time for a period of 1 or 2 years, after which they receive a loan to start on their own. This enables them to become independent and earn their own income.
